Alderbrook Golf Course on Hood Canal, Washington

Alderbrook Golf Club is located in Union, Washington on Hood Canal, between the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.  The golf course is 6,338 yards with par of 72, open year-round.  One of my favorite parts about this course is the stunning views of the Olympic Mountains.  Here’s the view of the 18th hole:

I also love the fact that you get to use this 30-foot periscope to see when you’re able to tee off from the 18th tee box:

The course offers challenging terrain and uniquely designed holes.  The 8th hole is famous for its Z-shape, so bring your distance measuring devices!  Making par on the 8th is a win.

You really feel as though your out in nature when playing this course, which is refreshing for a city gal like myself.  It’s not unusual to see wildlife:

The course is located just above Hood Canal, which is a favorite weekend destination for Seattleites.  When you’re finished with your golf game, the Canal is perfect for water sports, digging for clams and oysters, and enjoying the amazing views:

Here’s a view of the Canal during low tide, where you can see all the oysters on the beach:

If you go, stay the night at Alderbrook Resort & Spa.  It’s a stunning property situated right on the Canal with a beautiful dock.  I love relaxing on the deck after golf, enjoying great food (try the Grand Marnier Prawns and Fish Tostada!) and cocktails at the restaurant.  Even better, there’s a full spa.  Fun fact: both the Nordstrom family and the Gates family have homes on the Canal.  It’s not uncommon to see Bill Gates at the Alderbrook Resort.  You can see why:

Next time you’re in Washington State, put this course on your list!  Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram at travelinggolfgal.  Cheers!
